Bodega Akutain is a family-owned winery established in the mid-1970s by Juan José Peñagarikano Akutain. The winery follows a "château style," producing wines exclusively from their own vineyards located around the winery in Haro, within the Rioja Alta subzone of DOCa Rioja. The vineyards are situated at elevations ranging from 485 to 650 meters above sea level, with clay-calcareous soils and a climate influenced by both Atlantic and Mediterranean elements . The current director, Jon Peñagarikano Akutain, has been leading the winery since 2013, continuing the family's commitment to quality and tradition .
