G.D. Vajra is a family-owned winery established in 1972 by Aldo Vajra in Vergne, the highest village in the Barolo commune. The estate has been a pioneer of organic farming in Piedmont, achieving certification in 1971. The 'Albe' cuvée is a blend from three high-altitude vineyards: Fossati, Coste di Vergne, and La Volta. These sites are characterized by clay, marlstone, and sandstone soils, contributing to the wine's complexity and aging potential. The vineyards are farmed using natural methods to express the true aromatic quality of Nebbiolo.

Tasting Notes: The 2020 Barolo 'Albe' presents a deep garnet colour. The nose is expressive, offering aromas of redcurrant, cherries, cooked strawberries, and herbal notes of mint, rosehip, rhubarb, lavender, and liquorice. On the palate, it is generous, layered, and youthful, with ripe tannins and a smooth finish. The wine is described as having an intense, mineral, and racy profile, with a dry finish.
